Physics Summer School

Tuesday 11 July to Thursday 13 July 2017

Experience life as an undergraduate physics student at the University of Leeds on this two-night residential summer school where you'll get a chance take part in lectures, perform hands-on lab experiments and live in University of Leeds halls of residence.  There will be plenty of time to learn about our undergraduate programs and meet with our admissions tutors to learn more about applying to university.

This summer school is offered free of charge and sponsored in partnership with the Ogden Trust and the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leeds.

All the activities, catering and accommodation will be provided to successful applicants, including evening social events.  Those who receive a place will get more details in their offer letter.

The Summer School will start at 12:00pm on Tuesday 11 July and finishes at 14:00pm on Thursday 13 July 2017. You will be expected to attend the full event if you are successful in receiving a place. Please make sure you allow enough time to get to/from the University for any public transport.  There will be travel bursaries available to students who meet widening participation criteria outlined during the application process.

To participate, you must:

  • Be currently in Year 11
  • Be entering Year 12 in September 2017 and intending to study both Physics and Maths at A-levels
  • Be able to attend the summer school from 11 to 13 July 2017, including overnight accommodation
  • Have permission to participate from both a parent/guardian and your school
  • Arrange your own travel to and from the university, though travel bursaries are available
