## Research interests

The main aim of my research is to increase our understanding of quantum physics, especially the quantum physics of quantum optical systems with spontaneous photon emission. This is motivated, for example, by the potential applications of these systems in Quantum Information Processing and Quantum Metrology. Over recent years, experiments which employ fast technical advances have already answered many questions concerning the foundations of quantum physics but even more questions have been raised in the process. I expect that, within the next decade, experimental research will progress even deeper into the quantum realm of physical systems, thereby uncovering many interesting new effects.
